Privacy
This notice describes Metadata Engraver version 2.1. There is no account and no sign-in.
Your photos
Photos are processed entirely on your device. Metadata Engraver reads the image you select, renders the stamp locally, and writes the finished image back to your photo library when you export it. Your photos and the images you create are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
The app requests photo library access so you can choose a photo to stamp, and add-only access so it can save the finished image back to your library.
Location information
Metadata Engraver reads metadata from the original image you select. When the image belongs to a Photos library asset, and its embedded capture date or GPS fields are missing, the app can use the creation date or saved location attached to that selected asset. Embedded values take priority. For images without a Photos asset, it uses the metadata present in the supplied image data. It does not track your location in the background and does not read your device's current location to build a stamp.
When you turn on readable addresses, nearby places, or the map inset, those coordinates — and only those coordinates, never the photo itself or its pixels — are sent to Apple Maps to look up the corresponding place name or map image. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
If neither the image nor its selected Photos asset contains a location, location fields stay empty. Photos received through messaging or social apps often have location metadata stripped from the image copy.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. Metadata Engraver uses RevenueCat to present the Pro offer and to validate entitlements, configured with an anonymous App User ID that is not linked to your name, email, or any account.
RevenueCat processes purchase history only to provide app functionality: checking whether Pro is active and restoring previous purchases. It is not used for advertising, is not used for tracking, and is not linked to your identity.
On-device usage events
The app keeps a short local record of in-app events — such as choosing a template, toggling a field, changing a style, and exporting — to support its own behavior. This record is capped at the one hundred most recent events, is stored only in the app's own preferences on your device, and is never transmitted anywhere. Deleting the app deletes it.
Preferences kept on your device
The app stores local preferences such as your metadata display settings, overlay and save settings, saved templates and logos, onboarding state, and export bookkeeping. These stay on your device.
