Terms of Use
These Terms of Use and End User License Agreement govern your use of Metadata Engraver. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these terms.
1. The Agreement
This agreement is between you and Josh Wood (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the developer of Metadata Engraver (the “app”). It is not an agreement with Apple.
If you do not agree to these terms, do not download or use the app.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including access or use by other accounts where permitted through Family Sharing, volume purchasing, or Legacy Contacts.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense, redistribute, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except where such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.
3. Your Photos and Content
You retain any rights you have in the photos and other content you bring into the app. We do not claim ownership of your photos or the stamped images you create with the app.
Photos themselves are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.
When you use features that request address, location, or nearby-place information, metadata-derived information such as geographic coordinates may be provided to Apple services as necessary to provide those features.
You are responsible for having the right to use any photo, logo, graphic, or other content you bring into the app.
4. Metadata Engraver Pro
Some features require Metadata Engraver Pro, available through the following products:
- Pro Monthly: $2.99, auto-renewing monthly
- Pro Annual: $19.99, auto-renewing yearly; eligible users may receive a 3-day free trial
- Pro Lifetime: $34.99, one-time purchase
All three products unlock the same Pro features.
Prices shown above are in U.S. dollars for reference and may vary by region. The price displayed in the App Store at the time of purchase is the price that applies.
Billing and Renewal
Payment is charged to your Apple Account upon confirmation of purchase.
Auto-renewing subscriptions continue until canceled. Your Apple Account will be charged for renewal in accordance with Apple’s subscription billing terms at the applicable subscription price.
You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account settings or the App Store. Canceling a subscription stops future renewals but does not automatically provide a refund for the current subscription period.
Free trials and other introductory offers may be limited to eligible users. Eligibility is determined by Apple under its applicable App Store and subscription policies.
Restoring Purchases
Purchases are tied to your Apple Account.
You can use Restore Purchases on the Pro screen to restore eligible purchases after reinstalling the app or using another compatible device signed into the same Apple Account.
Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and applicable law.
We cannot directly issue refunds for transactions processed through the App Store.
Refund requests may be submitted through Apple’s Report a Problem service at reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the app:
- To create images intended to deceive or defraud;
- To intentionally misrepresent when or where a photo was taken;
- To infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of another person or organization; or
- In violation of any applicable law or regulation.
6. Accuracy of Metadata
The app reads and displays metadata that is already embedded in your photos.
We do not verify, correct, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, authenticity, or availability of that metadata, including dates, times, GPS coordinates, derived addresses, nearby place names, camera information, or camera settings.
Address, place, and related location information may be supplied by Apple Maps or other Apple location services and may be approximate, incomplete, or out of date.
Stamped images created by Metadata Engraver are not certified records and should not be treated as independent proof that a photo was taken at a particular time, date, or location.
If you use the app for inspections, insurance, legal matters, regulatory compliance, employment documentation, business records, or other consequential purposes, you are responsible for independently verifying any information you rely on.
7. Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, add, suspend, or discontinue features of the app from time to time.
Changes to paid features do not affect any rights or remedies you may have under applicable law or Apple’s applicable policies.
We do not guarantee that every feature or third-party service used by the app will remain available indefinitely.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.
This includes, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every device, photo, file format, or metadata field, or that it will preserve, display, or interpret every photo or metadata field correctly.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, photos, revenue, profits, business, opportunities, or goodwill arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app will not exceed the greater of:
- The amount you paid for the app and its in-app purchases during the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
- Fifty U.S. dollars ($50).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
10. Termination
This license remains effective until terminated.
It terminates automatically if you materially breach these terms.
You may terminate this agreement at any time by ceasing use of and deleting the app.
Sections 3, 6, 8, 9, 12, and 13 will survive termination to the extent necessary to give them effect.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time.
If we do, the revised version will be posted with an updated effective date.
Your continued use of the app after revised terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable local consumer-protection or other mandatory law provides otherwise.
13. Apple
The following provisions apply because the app is distributed through Apple’s App Store.

Warranty
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they have not been effectively disclaimed.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, paid for the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
Product Claims
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims made by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of the app, including:
- Product liability claims;
- Claims that the app fails to conform to an applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and
- Claims arising under consumer-protection, privacy, or similar laws.
Intellectual Property Claims
If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of the app infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that:
- You are not located in a region that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” region; and
- You are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-Party Terms
You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app.
Third-Party Beneficiary
Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement.
Upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce this agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary.
